Why a little paranoia about the future might save your career

Healthy paranoia about AI displacement is a career strategy. Why the professionals who worry about the future are the ones who survive disruption.

I’ve always been a bit paranoid about the future.

Maybe it’s because I grew up reading too much science fiction.

Or maybe it’s because I lived in a communist country for a while.

Either way, that “paranoia” turned out to be a gift in the long term, it kept me mentally prepared for change.

If you’re not thinking seriously about your future self (especially in tech), it might be time to hit pause on whatever you’re doing… Because in this era of AI, tomorrow could be too late.

Comfort zones are nice but silent killer of your future

The comfort zone is great for instant gratification.

But the worst for long-term growth.

Not learning anything new in today’s world, especially as AI becomes a co-pilot for almost every task, is more than lazy. It’s risky.

The debate is raging, AI is a double-edged sword, it can be both a blessing and a curse.

Just last month, a post from Fiverr’s CEO went viral: “AI is coming for your jobs.”

AI’s impact on society is huge, so it’s foolish not to use it for personal gain.

Ignoring AI today feels like trying to swim upstream, it’s exhausting and gets you nowhere.

I added AI learning to my daily routine, nothing too hardcore, just enough to stay sharp, curious and use it at my favor.

One of the areas I’ve been exploring is prompt engineering.

This field helps guide AI models (like ChatGPT or Claude) to generate better, more accurate, and useful results, it's like having a conversation with your own strategic co-founder/mentor.

Just a couple of weeks ago OpenAI released a new prompting guide for GPT-4.1.

*What does mean? *

Now you can now craft smarter, more precise prompts to get faster, more accurate, and more useful responses from the model.

It's like leveling up your AI communication skills, a game changer.

Your mindset is your Operating System (OS)

A mindset is the internal framework through which we interpret the world, make decisions, and respond to challenges.

It's the mental software that runs our behavior and growth.

Just like an operating system (OS) manages all processes and applications on a computer, your mindset governs how you process experiences, learn new skills, and adapt to change.

A Fixed mindset = have a legacy system. Hard to update, not very compatible with change, and crashes under pressure. Growth mindset? That’s your cloud-native OS built for scale.

You must reboot your mindset = clearing your RAM. Sometimes you just need a fresh start. Shut down the mental clutter and restart with clarity. For me doing complimentary activities like running help me a lot with daily restarts.

Limiting beliefs = old background processes draining your CPU. They slow you down quietly in silent, drain your mental energy, and leave less room for what’s really matter.

Mindset updates = system patches. Each new challenge you overcome is a patch that improves performance, security, and resilience. Too nerd I know....

Habits = startup programs. What auto-runs when you wake up? If your daily routines aren’t optimized, your whole day lags.

Learning new skills without updating your mindset = installing a new App on Windows 95. You’ll hit errors, blue-death screens and nothing will quite work right.

Open mindset = open API. It allows collaboration, integration, and growth through external inputs. Closed systems? Limited by design.

If you're clear with these concepts, you're ready to setup your mindset for growth in wherever tech arena.

The Prompt (copy + paste + personalize)

Here is the final draft of this tech career accelerator prompt in which I tried to condensate all these ideas.

I've used the latest guide from OpenAI and the help of the O3 model from the same house.

Copy the prompt, try it in ChatGPT (or any LLM), and that's it.

Why this works

It’s not just another productivity hack.

I can guarantee this prompt works, because it gives: 1. 2. 3.

Remember: If you don’t take your career seriously, no one else will.

Some time people are expecting a miracle or stay doing the same until they retire.

This utopia is far from the reality.

**Avoid mediocrity. **

**Avoid being average. **

Avoid being easily replaceable.
